Synopsis

Dun usually care to comment abt the movies i watch but then this one's an exception. "Eragon" as kelvin would put it "Eragon is the son of Aragon(lord of the rings)". Anyway .. i dun wan to spoil the fun by toking abt the details. Certain parts are so darn difficult to accept !. ITS A TRILOGY and u know wat the dragon grew up in 1 min. First thing u see it to be a baby, then he try to help the small dragon fly, it went into the sky then poof it became an adult. Even if its magic, there's a limit to test my patience. 3 movies leh .. end of one hour the dragon is already a full fleged dragon. Another thing i got to add, the graphics was okay but the dragon the way i see it is like a gryphon wif a long neck . The worst part was when it was born, the ladies mostly in theather went "Awww so cute". Y the heck is the dragon cute? Makes no sense to me. There was another part as well, there was the guy who saved the main character from the evil wizard by jumping infront of the spear. Eragon left him and flew on his dragon to the evil castle. I remember the guy saying it was far away and in the opposite direction. Within one day this guy can ride on his horse and reach the castle. But then these 2 idiots take 5 days to escape from the country previously on the horses. Makes no sense. At least put a caption saying that oh 3 days later or something. By the way if the horses can travel almost as fast as the dragon then y the dragon used for? My comments : Dumb movie but is watchable cos its 3 parts unless u wanna boycott the entire series.

Disclaimer : I would like to add that i only can critize and i would not be able to do the actual graphics.

Revival Part 2 - NeverEnding

Been 7 months since i last posted . Funny isn't it. I practically am glued to the computer for like 24-7 but cannot get the time to write a post.

Have you been to Vivocity .. Woah the mad rush place. Stampede all the time. Narrow walkways. The mall's design is good but it doesn't cater to that many pple. I went there on a monday afternoon and guess what. THE CROWD WAS STILL THERE. So many theatres but y only 3 counters? The other 2 were for credit card booking and for class. So many kids lining up to see movies. Got pissed off, left the place went to cathy picturehouse. Its so much better compared to struggling wif kids.

The other day i was at orchard going to watch movie wif qiu rui, kelvin, his galfriend and his another friend. There was this roadshow, forgot whether it was canon or what brand. they were selling cameras. But their whole marketing stragey was about sex, yes sex. Well sex sells. They made a gal sit on the top of a water tank. If the participant can hit the bullseye, the gal will drop in the tank. Well what the heck does that got to do with cameras? If the person could do it, they win a camera cover. The crowd was going ohhh and ahh. Err does anyone even know the main idea behind this . Half of them were there to look at the gal get wet. If she did another gal took her place. She couldn't have been more than 18 yrs old probably 16.

Christmas is coming. Saw another funny thing at orchard. They have 4 giant trees at the heeren cini junction. They also double up as fountains dun know how exactly that works. water splashing around. Jus beside it was a big generator , somemore wif the sign HIGH VOLTAGE , the organisers are stupid. Asking for trouble right. The water splash onto the generator and ........ dun wish to say any more.

Well i will continue later hopefully ...

World cup notice

this is dedicated to all 'would-be' soccer widows.
specially penned by moronic husbands, partners, boyfriends, fiances,
uncles, nephews, fathers, grandfathers, gigolos... basically ALL men. >(

Dear Wife, Partner, Girlfriend, aunt, niece, mothers, grandmothers,
maids,all women.

1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of the
newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World
Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you
fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be
totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.

2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any
exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose
it (your eye).

3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind,
as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If
you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on
right after because if you catch a cold, I wont have time to take you to
the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a
refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you
expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up
the baby that just fell on the floor....It won't happen.

5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the
fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please
do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the
games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am,
unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.

6. Please, please, please!! If you see me upset because one of my teams is
losing, DO NOT say "get over it, its only a game", or "don't worry, they'll
win next time". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and
I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about
football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead
to a break up or divorce.

7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me
during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the
halftime score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying "one"
game; hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time
together".

8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen
them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.

9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related
parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:
a) I will not go,
b) I will not go, and
c) I will not go.

10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a
game, we will be there in a flash.

11. The daily World Cup highlights shown on TV every night is just as
important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you
have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to something we
can all watch?" because, the reply will be, "Refer to Rule #2 of this
list".

12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the World
Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because after this
comes the Champions League, Italian League, Spanish League, Premier League,
FA Cup, etc.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Haha thought this was very interesting .. siphoned off a forum.. but
i related to almost all the points ..

Story of a boy who died young

Excerpt frm straits time (today)

April 20, 2006
JC STUDENT SUICIDE
Don't fault sex education, depression to blame: experts

Psychiatrists say it was likely boy was suffering from deep depression
By Liaw Wy-Cin

DEPRESSION was to blame for the suicide of the junior college student last month, said psychiatrists, who added that the fault did not lie with sex education in schools.

On Tuesday, State Coroner Tan Boon Heng recorded a verdict of suicide on the 18-year-old boy, who jumped to his death last month because he believed his penis was too small.

Body dysmorphic disorder
THE junior college student who committed suicide because he felt his private parts were too small could have been suffering from an illness known as body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).

In a letter to The Straits Times yesterday, Dr Ang Yong Guan, chairman of the two-year-old Action Group for Mental Illness, said BDD is a recognised psychological condition. Sufferers are so convinced there is something wrong with their bodies that they become severely stressed and depressed, and cannot function normally.

Dr Ang, 51, a psychiatrist in private practice, said that BDD is usually accompanied by suicidal thoughts or attempts. He cited an American study of 30 BDD sufferers, whose anxieties focused variously on their hair, noses, skin, eyes, breasts and penises. Of these 30 cases, 29 per cent had attempted suicide at least once.

Dr Ang added that 'because of its association with depression and hence, suicide, early diagnosis and intervention is crucial in the management of BDD'.

BDD is actually caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, which is not detectable through routine procedures like blood tests or brain scans.

It is therefore important to note the symptoms. Sufferers constantly talk about the perceived defect, lose concentration, sleep and appetite, suffer low moods, social withdrawal and a general change in behaviour.

But once diagnosed, medication and intensive individual psychotherapy can bring about a full recovery, Dr Ang said.

State Coroner Tan said the case demonstrated how easily young people fall victim to 'junk information' and recommended that the Education Ministry look into the sex education programme in schools.

But psychiatrists told The Straits Times yesterday that it was a mistake to point the finger at the education system, as the boy was probably suffering from deep-seated depression.

The boy, who cannot be named, had cited his perceived sexual inadequacies as the reason for killing himself in a suicide note addressed to his girlfriend and family.

But according to investigation reports, the second-year JC student had a history of depression stemming from stress relating to his studies.

He first sought treatment for exam-related stress in November 2004, complaining of palpitations, insomnia and nausea.

Nearly a year later, in October, his mother took him to see another doctor after he confided in her his anxiety over the size of his penis.

Then, in January this year, he visited his original doctor again for stress. In the same month, he told his mother that only his family's love was preventing him from suicide.

He jumped from a block of HDB flats in Bedok on the evening of March 3 and died in hospital two hours later.

State Coroner Tan noted that the boy could have benefited from counselling, besides the medication he received from neighbourhood doctors.

According to psychiatrist Ang Yong Guan, who is in private practice, the boy might have suffered from a condition known as body dysmorphic disorder, severe stress brought on by preoccupation with an imagined defect in one's body.

In a letter to The Straits Times, he said 'the misinformation is not so much that of sex education but the lack of awareness of the presence of a psychological condition'.

Several factors could have given rise to the boy's depression, said Dr Brian Yeo, consultant psychiatrist at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre.

He could have been naturally more prone to depression or had difficulty coping with stress - from home, school and relationships - built up over many years.

'We also don't know what he might have experienced in, say, swimming pool changing rooms. There might have been teasing and taunting going on,' said Dr Yeo.

Of the 1,723 people who killed themselves here between 2000 and 2004, only 88 of them were aged 20 or less.

Still, Dr Daniel Fung, 40, deputy chief of the child and adolescent department in the Institute of Mental Health, advised parents and teachers to look out for anxiety and depression when talking to children.

I really feel sorry for the boy. But its a stupid reason to die ... Jus cause yr privates are small. Had supportive parents, girlfiend, studied in a good jc, i think he is one of the luckier ones in life. But then he had to go do this ...

kids nowadays are told to study and get good grades but schools dun help them build up their confidence or strength their will. Students are often depressed jus cos they fail in a test or exam.

At least my time, kids my age were more thick skinned i think .. not afraid and enjoyed school life as it should be .. i see my tuition kids studying like there is no tomm, having a couple or sometimes even more tutors to teach them school stuff ..

Haiz, the younger generation is going bad to worse.
