Haha blog's going down the drain

Our blog has hit bottomline with almost 1 or 2 posts per month. Now we know blogs are so difficult to update. Dun know how pple do it. So bo liao .. no offense to those who do it. Let me tell u wat i do when i log on. i go check my NTU mail, then check my yahoo one. Then go and look for updates on anime and sometimes games, then go the soccernet then go see odds and stuff for betting. Once done with tat, i go on msn . tok to pple then tats it. y u need to spend time telling pple what u have done the entire day be it a sucky day or great day. Some blogs i saw, 1 was saying where he goes and sees on his holidays. Wow great but then in my entire life i dun think i will be going there. another one, complains about life, complains about the people he meets, complains about the pple he work with .

To keep the dreams of all the good hearted pple who want this web blog to be alive, i am writing a practically useless post. Thanks for your time to all those who read this.

By the way jack, i support u on your conclusions.

Metafilter mentions the Sydney race riots, where some 5000 people got "upset that a lifeguard or something got beat up by a bunch of 'middle eastern looking' people", and started a riot.

This is a new one also based in Australia.

Blown out of proportion

"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy and the tallest guy in the National Basketball Association is Chinese." - Chris Rock

What's biting Australia?

I'm referring to the Nguyen case here, about that fella who got hanged in SG for drug trafficking (heroin, 400g, 15g being the death penalty).

Australian media has blown this entirely out of proportion. I strongly believe that a case like this should not be shown this much coverage in the first place. Like that Bali case with the woman and the ecstacy pills (they turned her trial into a reality tv show for fuckssake), Australia has shown just how much respect they have for their asean neighbours.

Singapore has done nothing wrong, being a sovereign country with its own governing laws. The entire case was never an issue to begin with, and I can understand if Australia wants to plead clemency for one of their own citizens. But to call Singapore 'barbaric' and display public contempt and threats over Singapore's actions is clearly overstepping their boundaries.

Why did Australians want to plead for clemency in the first place? No matter how hard you look at it, from all the different angles, one can only reach a single conclusion. Because he's an AUSTRALIAN. And by Australian, i mean that they automatically assume that one of their own citizens should not be bound by laws of another country, which is utter and complete fucking bullshit. Nguyen was caught with 396 grams of heroin, not a small amount. Singapore death penalty for drugs comes in at 15 grams. Do the math.

Legally speaking, the aussies never had a case to begin with, so they should shut their trap with all the Internation Court of Justice (ICJ) shit and stop making an International Fool (IF) of themselves. Their next grounds for appeal are the ethical/moral issues behind capital punishment, which they argue as 'barbaric' and probably highly immoral from their perspective.

What they do not see is that a country's Laws have to be absolute, especially in a clear-cut case like this. They can appeal all they want, true, but that's about the limit. I see nothing ethically or morally wrong with capital punishment. I will not publicly express my distaste for people who oppose that notion, they have their own views and i have mine. I learn to respect that. Capital punishment is there for a purpose, as a deterrent, and people who gamble with that get what they deserve. The solution? DON'T GAMBLE WITH YOUR LIFE.

They mention rehabilitation. Something which I would find agreeable, but the sad thing is that a law has been broken and it needs to be followed as much as it is possible. An ending of a life by unnatural means may be inhumane, but capital punishment is not done without a reason. Again, DON'T GAMBLE WITH YOUR LIFE.

If a Singaporean is caught red-handed commiting a heinous or serious crime in Australia, provided there is no suspected foulplay involved and the entire case handled properly under Australian law, I have no doubts that Singapore will not do what Australia has done. There will be no pleas, no public outrage, no political tantrums, no childish threats and no tabloid-styled media coverage.

No parent will want their sons and daughters to leave this world before they do. His parents, siblings and friends may be distraught, but that is no grounds for a plea in this case. Nguyen knew what he was dealing with, he took the risk and lost the gamble. Singapore had factored in his family situation and has seen no reason to grant clemency, something which i would agree. Nguyen has a twin brother, his mother will not bereft of an only child.

How would the death of one Australian citizen affect the Australians? Why should they feel so affected? Just because Singapore is sentencing an Australian to death? What utter nonsense. If they seek to improve their karma there are plenty of others ways to do it, like joining Angelina Jolie on her humanitarian missions. Furthermore, they seek to observe a minute's silence for Nguyens death. A laughable joke that befits their championing cause of being crowned an International Fool. Not surprising for a nation that descended from a penal colony. =P

What has Australia achieved through all this? I draw three conclusions:

1.) Australia is a news-starved country. Half the nation suffers from ADD, and requires 100 tons of Ritalin asap.
2.) They have no respect for other country's laws.
3.) Immature and childish in every possible way.

At least the heads of the country aren't acting like idiots, that's a relief.

I swear, if i see anymore news on the Nguyen case in the papers i'm gonna tear it up on the spot and write to the straits times forums and the australian newspapers.

Jack out ~
